Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

1. Introduction

Turbovine Inc. (“Turbovine”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), a company based in Canada, operates the Turby Time service (“Turby Time” or the “Service”). We are committed to protecting your privacy and the privacy of your children. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

Parent account information. When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and a password (which we store only in encrypted/hashed form). When you subscribe, payment is processed by our payment provider (Stripe); we do not receive or store your full card number.

Child profile information. For each child profile, we collect only what the parent or guardian enters: the child's first name or nickname, date of birth or age, and a chosen cartoon avatar. As your child plays, we record their learning activity, such as lessons completed and badges earned. We do not collect a child's photograph, home address, phone number, or other contact information, and we do not collect sensitive personal data from children.

Information collected automatically. Like most online services, we collect limited technical and usage information — such as device/browser type, general activity within the app, and anonymous event data — to operate, secure, and improve the Service. We also collect error/diagnostic logs to detect and fix problems (see Sections 7 and 8).

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide and improve the Service, personalise lesson content for your child, process subscriptions and payments, communicate with you about your account, prevent fraud and abuse, and ensure the safety and security of the platform. We do not use children's information for advertising or to build advertising profiles.

4. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Turby Time is intended for children using it under the supervision of a parent or guardian, and we are committed to complying with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar children's privacy laws in the regions we serve.

  • Only parents create accounts. Children cannot register, sign in on their own, or reach the parent area, which is protected by a parent PIN. All child data is created and managed through the parent's account.
  • Parental consent. By creating a child profile, the parent or guardian consents to our collection and use of the limited child information described in this policy.
  • We never collect from children directly. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child, and we do not ask children for personal details.
  • No advertising or profiling. We do not show children third-party advertising, and we do not use their information to build advertising profiles or for behavioural targeting.
  • Parental rights. A parent or guardian may review, update, or delete their child's profile and associated data at any time from the parent dashboard, or by contacting us. Deleting your account removes your children's profiles, progress, and badges.

If you believe a child has provided us personal information without parental consent, please contact us at hello@turbovine.com and we will delete it.

5. Voice Activities & the Speaking Quiz

Some activities — including the quiz — ask your child to say a word or sentence out loud so they can practise speaking. Here is exactly how that works:

  • How the quiz checks an answer. When your child speaks, your device's built-in speech-recognition feature (provided by your web browser) converts what they say into text on the spot, and the Service compares that text to the expected answer to mark it right or wrong.
  • We do not record your child. No audio recording of your child's voice is created, saved, or sent to us. We never store voice recordings, and no person listens to your child.
  • The conversion is handled by your browser. The speech-to-text happens through your browser. Depending on the browser you use (for example, Google Chrome), the audio may be processed momentarily by that browser provider's speech-recognition service to perform the conversion, and is then discarded.
  • The microphone is only on during a speaking activity. Your browser will ask for microphone permission before it is used, and the microphone is not active outside of these activities.
  • No advertising. We never use voice for advertising or profiling.

6. Service Providers

We use a small number of trusted third-party providers to operate the Service. They process data only on our behalf and only as needed to provide their function:

  • Supabase — secure database and account authentication.
  • Vercel — application hosting.
  • Cloudflare — storage and delivery of lesson media (videos, images, badges).
  • Stripe — subscription payments and billing.
  • Resend — transactional emails (e.g. password resets, receipts).
  • Sentry — error and crash diagnostics.

7. Analytics & Error Monitoring

We collect anonymous usage events to understand how the Service is used and to improve it. We also use an error-monitoring service called Sentry, which automatically records technical diagnostic information when the app encounters an error or crash — such as the type of error, the page it occurred on, and basic device/browser details. We use Sentry so we can quickly find and fix problems and keep the Service stable, reliable, and safe for children. It is configured for error reporting only — not performance tracking, advertising, or session recording — and we do not use this data to identify or track individuals.

8. International Data Transfers

We are based in Canada, and our service providers may store and process information in Canada, the United States, and other countries. Privacy laws in those countries may differ from those where you live. Where required, we take steps to ensure your information receives an appropriate level of protection wherever it is processed.

9. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information or your child's personal information. We share data only with the service providers listed above, as required by law or to respond to lawful requests, and, in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with the successor entity (subject to this policy).

10. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time from the dashboard or by contacting us. We will delete or anonymise data when it is no longer needed, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations.

11. Cookies & Similar Technologies

We use essential cookies and similar local storage to keep you signed in, remember your child's session, and ensure the Service works correctly. A small amount of cookie or local-storage data also supports the anonymous analytics and error monitoring described in Section 7. We do not use advertising cookies, we do not sell your data, and we do not track you across other websites.

12. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, to withdraw consent, or to object to or restrict certain processing — for example under Canada's PIPEDA, the EU/UK GDPR, or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). Parents may exercise these rights on behalf of their children. To make a request, contact us using the details below; we will respond as required by applicable law.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a revised date.

15. Creators & the Creator Program

If you join our Creator Program, we process a small amount of business contact information about you as an adult participant — such as your name, contact email, login email, social handles, the PayPal email you provide for payments, and records of redemptions and commissions associated with your code. We use this information solely to operate the Program: to attribute referrals, calculate and pay your commissions, and communicate with you about your account. We send Program-related emails (such as confirming a change to your payout email, or notifying you that it has changed) to your registered account email. This information is handled by the same service providers listed in Section 6, and your participation is also governed by our separate Creator Agreement, which we provide to creators when they join the Program.
